That...John Cooper, thank you for sharing that link. That is a really great collection. I'd like to find some more examples of what men and women were wearing in the 1890s.

Harishava, I don't think Oscar Wilde had as much of an influence on women wearing pants as that blog quote I used might make it seem. I really liked that blog post and that passage in particular, so I wanted to provide a link to it. I think of all the Wilde's it was Constance who influenced women's dress the most. She was very active in the Rational Dress Movement. Franny Moyle has an excellent book on Constance's life and activism, called "Constance: The Tragic and Scandalous Life of Mrs. Oscar Wilde" (I'm posting a link to it below).

Honestly, so much of women's dress seems to be directed by men that I'm happier giving credit to Constance. :)

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10854953-constanceTine Hrenohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07275522536093285024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8569014705268253191.post-14467139714719446732013-08-01T20:02:29.836-07:002013-08-01T20:02:29.836-07:00Oscar Wilde mentions dress for men in the same art...Oscar Wilde mentions dress for men in the same article as where he mentions women's dress. Although the earlier style of top hat he called 'chimney stove' hat. As well he recommends Turkish style trousers and unfortunately despite what we wish to think I don't believe had much baring on women wearing 'pants' later. We can hope of course.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8569014705268253191.post-16462308209593023972013-08-01T14:16:51.854-07:002013-08-01T14:16:51.854-07:00You may be interested:
